I'm rather low on time and energy for blogging tonight, so I'll be light on text and heavy on images.
These are a few of my favourite 1950s dresses, culled from my 'fashion picture stash', as I call it. Sorry to say, none of these are owned by me.
I was going to write "oh I love this one"...
But then I remembered I love them all!
This yellow one is just beyond stunning with the white dots (what are they called again?)
And such beautiful sleeves! People, when are we going to win lotto??
Big. Sigh. I've always wanted to wear halters but have never been able to...maybe in the next life. Oh, and can I please have straight hair next time around, too?
Sateen tulip dress...any takers?
There are so many good things about this one, I don't even know what to say.
There was plenty of gingham around in the 50s, it's so girl-next-door... maybe there was a naughty boy next door to the girl who wore this, because nothing would have been going down that neckline, that's for sure!
And is it just me or is there an abundance of blue 50s dresses out there?
In regards to yesterdays post, Sarah Misfit got it right!
Apparently, getting along with others in the 50s was all about tampax.
Her smile gets bigger with each picture. What a relief! She's so thoughtful, no-one even knows she's thoughtful.

Bwahahaha, thoughtfulness 50s style, who knew it was so feminine hygiene product based. Did Emily Post know about this? It would have saved her pages of writing.
The pink dress and the yellow dress took my breath away (and not just from imagining trying to squeeze into them).
Ha ha ha about the ad!!
Oh I know what you mean, I am drooling over 1950's Predicta TV reproductions at the moment. Their website mentions NO prices, so I imagine they are pricey, verrrry pricey... =(
I'll take the 3 50s blue florals please. I can't wear halternecks either, too broad in the shoulders :( xx
Of course Tampax, having your period is about being bitchy.
your killing me with those amazing dresses, love the tulip and the black lacey like one. I cant wear halternecks either, hate my big arms but you always use a fur cardigan.
Gorgeous dresses! My favourite is the white halter xx
Hilarious!! love the add, and your last post. LOVE all the dresses..sigh,xx Katherine
The yellow dress, is that fabric "Dotted Swiss"? I don't think enough designers use dotted swiss today, and that's a shame!
I too, love the tulip dress.
