My Latest Vintage Keepers

 You know I'm always out and about buying vintage, don't you?

Here are the latest few pieces I've kept in the past couple of months.

Above and below, an enormous polka dot bowl, perhaps a fruit bowl, which matches the polka dot set I showed you here.

Love that atomic shape on the feet!

I also got the ashtray...and you know how I am with ashtrays. Thanks to Sue and here reference-book-buying habit, I now know that this set dates to 1957 and was made by H.G.Woods in England, although most pieces are unmarked.

 

Another Dallas Simpson print, I'm slowly getting together a few of these and will hang them all on a 'kitsch wall' when I have enough.

I wasn't really looking for more ashtrays, but when old advertising ones come my way for free it'd have been rude to say no, right??

50s gooseneck standard lamp, I've wanted one of these for ages and it's the best thing ever, in fact it's due to go to the shop at some point but I hope that day doesn't come too soon.

This one's not my fault either, Mum found it for me at a local flea market.

40s & 50s Hats & Handbags

So many treasures, so little time!

That seems to have been my mantra this past couple of weeks- we've acquired a mini-mountain of new stock just lately, as fast as I prepare it there always seems to be more to do!

Here are a few of the gorgeous hats and handbags that will be making their way up to the shop tomorrow, I have to say these are among my favourites EVER.
 Ladies are already coming in to the shop looking for their formal and Melbourne cup outfits, and I wonder if some of these hats will be in the newspaper one day, being worn by a 'best-dressed' winner??

Rare 40s felt

Such an unusual texture to this one and a lovely silk velvet band

There's no way I could get this one to sit on a mannequin head, it needs to be pinned to a real head, LOL! Perfect for those who love the fascinator style but of course this is an original 50s!

This one doesn't show too well in a photo but is a lovely 50s silk velvet cocktail hat, perfect for the races or a school formal (prom).

In this (lightened) close-up you can see it has little bows all around the edges, so cute!

Elegant 1940s topper, reminiscent of Victorian styles

Assorted Vintage Pretties

Hello my lovelies!

As usual I've had my eye on lots of goodies lately, sometimes I'm looking to buy, sometimes I'm looking to see what things are worth and sometimes I look at a piece over and over again just because it's so beautiful.

I keep lots of pictures for reference, here are some of my favourites from the last few months.

Most of these items were out of my price range on any level, but isn't it nice to sometimes window-shop just for the sake of learning and inspiration?

I'm determined to get one of these big 50s American lamps one day!

Taxidermy purse with the body of a frog...let's all say it together now, EWWW!

 

Blue monkey fur coat, apparently very rare.

 

Such gorgeous colours, I know not all my readers like or approve of fur but I love it and wear it as much as I can.

Huge collection of midcentury Arabia finel enamelware.

 

Tiger print fur bag with lucite handles and frame, an excellent-ly fun piece.

Art Deco mirror with piecrust edges and little shelf. I'm dying to get one of these but I don't know where I'd put it.

Yet another lamp, it doesn't look too flash like this but look below, when it's lit up.
