Attention Brisbane Locals!! Vintage Fairs and Markets Near You!!

September 7 & 8

In response to lots of requests over the past couple of weeks, here's a roundup of a few upcoming vintage events to be held locally to me.

I still can't believe the number of keen vintage enthusiasts who are unaware of the various markets and fairs that are on around here!

This will of course be of little interest if you don't live near me, but I'm sure there's lots on close by you; why not search Facebook if you're in need of a vintage fix, anything that's anything seems to be on there these days!

The main one to mention is of course the Brisbane Vintage Fashion Fair. To be held next on September 7 and 8, 2012, at the Eagle Farm Racecourse, we'll be there in our usual spot in the Hall of Fame Room over near the ATM in the corner.

The BVFF is a gigantic fair full of vintage!! Mostly fashion and fashion accessories, now with lots of vintage homewares and the odd spot of menswear too. A healthy mixture of premium vintage and bargains can be found at this fair, definitely something for everyone.

Find the BVFF on Facebook or at www.vintagefashionfairs.com.au

Suitcase Rummage is a funny little event that has been going for some time now, maybe 2 or 3 years. It started as a few kids selling bits and pieces from a suitcase on the ground in King George Square, now it's a HUGE monthly market that books out every time and is going national! You'll find a wide variety of vintage, new and preloved fashion and homewares here, and nearly everything is well-priced and/or easy to haggle. Result= great for bargains, as long as you don't mind bending down to literally rummage through suitcases of stuff. Find them on Facebook.

West End Vintage and Designer Markets is the one I mentioned in my last post. Held monthly in a bar on the corner of Russell and Boundary St West End, nice for a browse but quite small and dimly-lit, not very bargainous IMHO but you never know what you'll find! Find them on Facebook.

A new little fair for us, to be held on August 4th, 10-4pm, at the Queensland Museum and it sounds like it'll be quite comprehensive!!

Shop to the sounds of live bluegrass music, get yourself styled up by the Bombshells Burlesque and Beauty Academy, find some bargains at the in-house Suitcase Rummage, do a free workshop with the Embroiderers and Craft Guild, boasting over 200 stalls selling vintage, hats, craft stuff, vinyl and homewares, this sounds like it'll be a good one!!

I'm not sure if it's at the old Museum or the new one, but you can find them on Facebook.

A new little market which has just started up last month on the Gold Coast. I didn't go so I can't tell you much, but it's to be held monthly.

Held at Gecko House, in Duringan st, Currumbin, so a fair way down the coast but from what I hear it boasts a good variety of vintage, handmade and upcycled goodies.

Of course the biggest rockabilly/swing/vintage/kustom event of the season, is Greazefest!!

A 3-day event, held at the Rocklea Showgrounds, but Sunday is the biggest day, with all-day bands, a massive market day, hot rod/car show plus more! Even better, it's an all ages event, feel free to dress your little ones in vintage and bring them along.

We'll be there with tons of fresh vintage, and the secret surprise all going to plan, we'll be showcasing our brand new range for the firs time, woo hoo! You can find Greazefest on Facebook or at www.greazefest.com

I feel exhausted just thinking about all the packing and unpacking that goes into attending one of these as a seller. It is amazing how many have popped up. Back in the day there was only a handful. Well done for this weekend, heard you looked the bomb!! I am not surprised one bit. See you soon lovely lady, xxxx

@Kitty - The Vintage Fair in the Whale Mall would be at the new museum. The Whale Mall is what we call the walkway that runs between the museum & the art gallery that has the giant whale models suspended above it.

There's so much going on, and you're a good woman to share it. I'm intriqued by the suitcase one...what makes it so special that it's doing so well? I love the poster- quite a looker.

Anyhoo, wish I was shopping with youse!
