Fresh Finds & New Faves....Beautiful Bakelite Part 2

Bakelite is something Sue and I specialise in, so it's hardly a surprise that there will be lots of it in our shop.

When we first met 2 years ago, we were both obsessed with it, and that obsession hasn't waned at all.

We both spend many hours every week looking for the best, the rarest, the most spectacular, and as Sue says 'oomph-y' bakelite pieces we can possibly find.

This Art Deco Cutex box is a great example. Extremely rare in itself, but this particular one even more so, as it still has all its original contents. (Please excuse the box in the background!)

All 3 nailpolish bottles are unopened, and the original Cutex-stamped emery board and orange stick are included.

Lovely Art Deco card or cigarette box. I love the design on the lid.

Bakelite wool holders, in rare shapes and colours. Naturally the end-of-day is my favourite!

Beautiful Art Deco frosted glass trinket box.

The lid is bakelite and features a nude lady in raised relief.

Bakelite 'wunup' cigarette case. Rarely found in Australia, these look plain but are functionally awesome. Cigarettes sit vertically in the case, and each is individually spring-loaded. As you slide the little top piece across and open, they pop up one by one. Nothing this dinky ever gets made these days!

Lovely!

I used to collect bakelite as a child and had absolutely loads of the stuff. After years of living in crap rented accomodation and countless moonlit flits from dodgy landlords most of it fell by the wayside.
I love the Cutex set so much and the reclining nude. xxx.

Oooooohhhhh, my im lost for words again. Wow they are all works of art in their own right. I have never seen anything like any of the items you have just shown us and the nail polish remover box in the first picture is amazing the shape, colour and style and the trinket holder love them all. I adore bakelite, I currently have a lovely white mantle clock and to valve radios which i adore. There is a bakelite musuem close by to where i live which i only found out about towards the end of last year that is a trip for this year. Good luck with all your sales. Dee x

Good grief--you must have bakelite radar to have found so many great pieces! And I'll bet you didn't pay much for them, either. You are going to have a GREAT store!!!
