30s, 40s & 50s Dresses...Some of My Latest Haul

As regular readers will know I had one of my best-ever vintage clothing buy-ups earlier this week. Lets not think about the rest of that trip, ok?

Many dresses have already gone up to the shop, and I haven't finished washing it all yet (some pieces require 3 or 4 washes plus *energetic* stain removal) but I'm dying to show you some!

1930s floral linen tea dress with side snap closure, self belt and speckled bakelite buttons.

While its not to my taste personally I love it for the fine sewing skills it displays and its immaculate condition.

1940s/50s shirtwaister, I love the scalloping along the bodice and pockets.

1930s butter-yellow dress with nylon lace bodice panel, this is a heavy but super-soft cotton and is so tactile, I wish I could give you a feel test!

The soft self belt has this fantastic carved bakelite buckle..how could I resist?!
1930s crepe and lace dress, again in stunning condition...a rarity for Australia.

Look at the delicate shirring on the sleeves!
1950s cotton plaid dress with lace-edged collar and pussy bow.

Groovy sleeves!

Gorgeous 40s dress with such an unusual print for the era.

absolutely beautiful pockets, classic 40s styling

No-ones bum would ever look big in this!!
On another note, I've been without internet for the past few days (2 deaths in one week!) and am just catching up on blogs now so will be 'seeing' you all soon.xx.

Ohhh so lovely!!

I love vintage linen. It irons well, it drapes well, it has a feel and look to it that I simply love.

Beautiful!

I love the 1930's crepe and lace dress so much.
Do you get as much of a kick from succesful strain removal as I do or am I just a lonely weirdo? xxx

Ha ha Vix, I get immense satisfaction from any and all kinds of stain removal, cleaning, sanding, repainting, you name it, any improvement is job satisafction to me.

The Yellow is my absolute fav! But with each, it's the details that make them so fabulous. Sigh. That's such a lost touch in today's clothes. Thanks for sharing.

Ooh that beautiful floral linen - and the buttons and the bakelite buckle! But I especially love the 1940s yellow frock. Can anyone else see Desiree in that?

What a gorgeous selection - thanks for sharing Kitty!

Wow, this is quite the haul! They're all wonderful, but I think I like the yellow 30's dress with lace best. Or maybe that last 40's dress, to hide my big bum!
