Keep Calm & Carry On Dressing Up

Phew, what a stormy weekend it has been here in Queensland-literally!

For three days and nights, we copped a mini cyclone, with gale force winds, torrential rain, flash flooding, power outages and all the drama that comes with.

Personally I was spared the worst, but unfortunately our shop wasn't. Tamborine Mountain was one of the worst areas hit, and we lost several thousand dollars' worth of stock that was on the front balcony. It could have been worse though, we could have lost the clothes!!

Door underneath Sues house is a door no more...and the pathway? what pathway???
Shops across the road from ours are barely visible

This was a nice display last week, all is now destroyed :(
See those retro suitcases there? We had 12 in stock, all of those plus many more items of furniture will need to be simply thrown out as they can't be salvaged. Worst thing is, the roads to the Mountain are still cut and I can't get up there to help Sue do anything until probably Thursday.

Still, I can at least boost morale by looking cheery, albeit in pics taken a while ago!!

Chenille ballerina shorts!!!

It pays to remember in these situations, there is always someone worse off and we could have lost an awful lot more than we did so really we should be giving thanks that we were spared.

Hopefully this post will do its thing and go up properly, it's been a testing time in this new house with its sporadic internet, please don't think I've been ignoring you if I haven't visited lately.xx.

Wow! You look gorgeous! I remember lusting after those shorts when you went skating with VB last year!
What a bloody shame about the ruined stock, the weather looked awful, I was watching it on the BBC on Sunday morning and thinking of you, Desiree and Nelly.
Hope Sue gets sorted soon and that you're happy in your new pad! xxxx

I have been thinking of you, Sue and the shop constantly over the past week. Poor Sue must be frazzled. I wish Ben and I could get up to help you lovelies with the clean up, but alas it's the same situation with us being such a short distance and time away we're cut off to get to you on the mountain. If there is anything we can do come the weekend providing there is access up and it's safe from our way please let us know.

And of course how could you not light up our screens with our gorgeousness and chenille shorts. X

Chenille ballerina shorts? Are you kidding? They are awesome! And i'm surprised your shoes let you stand still for a photo - they are made for dancing. Gorgeous.
Good luck in your cleanup but what a headache. I am thankful that you are safe. The weather there is such a diva!

Dayyyyyyyyyyyam how long is it you've been waving those fecking awesome shorts under my twitching nose?!!!!!! It's about bloody time you burned my retinas out with them and holy feck what an AWESOME outfit - pigtails and all baby! God, wasn't it all just so freaky and scary????? The houses and shops along the Wynnum Esplanade have seaweed and FISH in their front yards from when they were flooded and the wading pool is about 2m deep! I'm relieved the clothes were saved and all the indoor gorgeousness, but oh it's so tragic to see all those beautiful treasures going to waste, especially knowing all the really, really hard work you put into getting things in tip-top shape! Big hugs, D xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Main thing is that you, Sue and VB are all ok. Bummer about losing precious stock, but it could have been so much worse. Jeez, you guys have been copping it in Australia. from fires to floods.......JAYSUS!
Keep calm and keep dressing up is a splendid motto, and one that will forever be adhered to in the case of natural disaster!
