Come Up To The Shop With Me....

Something different for you today :)

A few pics from my drive up to the shop, through the beautiful Gold Coast Hinterland.

We all like to see landscapes that are exotic to us, and while these sights are not so to me, they certainly make for a very pleasant hours' drive to work.

I took all these pics while driving along so some of them have some reflection from the windows, oh well. The scenery changes from small properties, to large & neatly kept farms, to tropical rainforest.

About 40 minutes away from home now, that's Tamborine Mountain in the distance.

At the base of the mountain now.

5 minutes further on, and the trees start closing in.

Look at that weak winter sky! So pale! In fact I took these pics a couple of months ago, so yes, this is what the dead of winter looks like here.
Another 5 minutes along, and we arrive at the real rainforest part of the mountain.

How gorgeous is this! It gets a bit hard to take more pics until I arrive at the shop, this top part of the road certainly is winding.

Have a look at our beautiful garden, just out the front of the shop. The arbor there is our entry from the footpath, you walk through it and on to the path in the next pic. Follow the path around behind the big camellias and you're at the shop door.
The lavender is in full bloom at the moment. We also have camellias, nasturtiums, massive daisy bushes and a few other flowers whose names I don't know, all so pretty.

Lavender pics taken today...can you tell how much warmer it is now?!

Edited to add, for those overseas.....

Wow that really is destination shopping! Reminds me of the journey to a vintage shop in Topanga Canyon just outside LA, it's in the middle of nowhere too!

These photos are beautiful! I love the fact that this is your drive to work/your shop, how cool. Those flowers are beautiful and what a brilliant name for a mountain too. I think the tropical rainforest is my favourite part of the drive :) Amazing post! Thank you for the lovely comment too, it is very grey during winter over here - it's why I pray for snow! xxx

I swear some of those photos look like they were taken on my trip yesterday to northern Kentucky (accept the rainforest!). Very pretty.

Good god woman, if I didn't love you I'd be insane with jealousy! It's just gorgeous, like Wales without the crap weather.
The lavender is so beautiful, too.
I bet you never get the work day blues. xxx

This is indeed some beautiful scenery and an incredible commute to work!

Btw did you allude to this in your comment that my Bondi daughter (actually two daughters live there) should travel? They have both travelled all over Australia, except Western Australia. Also a great deal of the globe from North and South America, West and Southern Africa, SE Asia, a lot of Western Europe and parts of Eastern Europe. And they still chose Bondi to settle in! Must be doing something right for them...Lol!

Wow, such an inspiring drive and so much nice than my 15 minute grey and dull inner city, anger filled commute. Thanks for sharing.

So beautiful - I spent five years on the GC as a kid and we spent heaps of time up in the hinterland - Nerang wasn't even built yet!
