You've probably seen these before- there's certainly a few to be found in Australia, but they're hard to find in perfect condition like this.
The entire shade and 'base' have a plastic ribbon wound around a black wire frame...and you know how crazy I am for 50s black wire stuff!
Close-up of the shade ribbon.
Currently residing on a retro corner table in my lounge room, not the ideal place really, but too bad, I just had to use it NOW.
I just bought this tonight too, I have a couple of other pieces similar but not in this shape or colour, so again I was very pleased to make this addition to my little collection.

Fabulous! I looks really spectacular all lit up.
I have a lamp just like that, but made with fiberglass. I've never seen a ribbon style!

Oh WOW - I don't think I've ever seen a lamp quite like that before. I most be living in the wrong part of the world. I love it!
Kitty - thanks for stopping by today. I will happy to help you figure out how to add the Etsy and eBay promos into your blog. I'll send you an email, if it's listed in your profile. If not, send me one at: sarsaparilla.antiques@yahoo.com
p.s. I have the same question as Helga - what is that in the last pic? My guess is it's probably NOT for false teeth. :-)
Wow, it sounds like atomic ribbon lamps are an Australasian-only phenomena!
Helga!- the last item is an ashtray in the shape of a wheelbarrow. I thought all my readers would be familiar with these so didn't bother explaining it.
Sarsaparilla- email me at waycelia (at) hotmail (dot) com, thanks.
