An Impressive New Freebie

I'm terrible when it comes to a freebie.

Yes it's true.

No way in hell would I go and knock on doors, nor ask for anything...but if you put it out on the kerb for any to take, then by gosh I's'm gonna take it!!

This 1950s freestanding record player and radio was no exception. Although only a side-on view was visible from my ever-trawling van, that was enough for my well-trained eagle eyes; I swerved over to the wrong side of the road pronto-like, and was duly rewarded for my aberrant behaviour.

A fabulous, compact-sized prize awaited me, one I could easily lift alone. Yes the record player and radio both work! One speaker doesn't, so maybe one day I'll get around to that wee repair.

But for now, I'm happy to have music in the house!

Went Ray was in collage we furnished half the house with side of the road finds. Which, 20 years on, we still have.

Oh you lucky duck....it is gorgeous! I love the size & the little legs. Such a pity we don't have curbside collections in my suburb. I'd probably be in trouble if we did! Xx

the only things you'll find on the curb here are nasty old couches! What a treasure!

My heavens I would pass out from excitement had I come across something like that for free.

As you know I've furnished my entire house with other people's cast-offs! Fab little stereo system - I hope you replaced the stylus before blasting out your vinyl though! xxx

When I was young I had a huge 1950s radiogram in my bedroom, and I could listen to radio from all over the world and record it on the reel-to-reel! The sound was fantastic.
I also love your crystal lamp, by the way.
