Best-Ever Bargain Vintage Dress!!

Meet my new 1950s dress. In an amazing stroke of luck, I thrifted it last week for the princely sum of $2.

This never happens to me.

Okay so it has now, but you know what I mean, right? Op shops in my area are total rubbish so I rarely bother, but one day last week I got the call so off I went, and bingo!

As you might imagine if you'd seen the crusty little shop that it came from (you know, one of those ones that professes to be open every day but never has enough volunteers so is in fact almost never open), it's copped its fair share of love and wear in its time, now sporting a few wee holes and some huge faded patches.

But with a shelf bust, swooshy acetate fabric and an insane print as busy as our lives, what's not to love?

The thrift continues down the legs too. Lurex tights for 10 cents BNIP and totally new Nine West gold leather heels for $6, this must be my bargain heaven outfit, head to toe I'm done for less than $10.

And speaking of me in a green dress, how's this for cute-ski??

Done by my fab gal-pal Lisa of Atomic Martini Vintage, with 'Pinup-maker Deluxe'. Thanks chick, I love it!!

Linking up with Lakotas Ta-Dah Tuesday.

What a bargain! Love it. I wish that would happen to me. Gold Coast op shops suck too.

Total bargain. Perfect size too. I love secret little add ups on outfits.
Oh and when you say call up, did some one let you know or was it a message from the heavens?

You are divine in that. The thrifting goddesses were obviously shining their love down on you. You couldn't buy this look for 100 times the price.

Lovely ‘antique gold’ colour and those 50s shapes were so flattering to those with tiny waists like yours. What a bargain.

Yeah, my sister and I used to find such great vintage stuff in San Francisco thrifts back in the 70's--ha ha, and now we wish we'd hung on to the NEW stuff we wore then, too! I visited a local vintage clothing store the other day and when I walked in I thought, hey, this stuff isn't VINTAGE . . . because it was 80's. But then I noticed who was in there shopping: high school and college age kids who obviously think the 80's are waaaaay old. Speaking of vintage green dresses (and that graphic of you is incredible!), wait until I post a pic of the one I got at an estate sale. It's the exact same green and nearly the same dress!

Golden dress is so exquisite! You can dance the night away in your gold shoes.
Some hole in the wall stores are the best to rummage in.
