A Visit with The Hobos

VB and I popped in to check out Brisbanes latest vintage store today, Hobohemia...owned by 'the hobos', of course!

The hobos, as we now know them, are none other than Lizzie and Mike Hilburger. Lizzie may not remember it, but it's partly due to her encouragement that I myself became a vintage seller.

These guys have been collecting and dealing in vintage for years, but this is their first retail venture. They've been working on the shop for several months and I was dying to see how it all came together!

I so want this fab old tin sign!

A very unusual vase that caught my eye

I love the detail on this celluloid frame
what else did I love? these mid century thingys!

VB got quickly acquainted with the 'shop fox', Jack

See, I'm not the only Brisbane person obsessed with furs, lol

Would you believe this wee chandelier is plastic?!

It even comes in the original box!

You can find the hobos at 295a Given Terrace, Paddington, open Thurs-Sun, at a reasonable hour...like 10am, right?
Visit them at www.hobohemia.com.au or at www.facebook.com/hobohemia.

Now for some answers to your questions;

No Frock on Friday for me this week, my face still hasn't fully recovered although I'm a LOT better than I was-thanks all for your kind words and wishes. I'll be back to commenting properly by Monday, I promise :).
I'm also flat-out busy preparing for Greazefest on Sunday. We'll be over near the indoor stage, so if you're local come and say hi!

Sarah, yes I will post more pics of the fab green platforms in the coming weeks.
Mary Mur, no I know nothing about Greece, I don't know why you'd think I would!
La Dama, nothing showing up from you, keep us updated hon.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!!

I'd die if I walked into that shop, as well as become very broke!

So many gorgeous things :|

I wouldn't want to part with any of it!

I particularly like the little devil child head on the shelf in the 4th picture down and the charming little miss (I guess they are) perfume bottles with doll heads as tops!

I'd love to live near a shop that amazing! xxx

That store is awesome. Those wooden drinks crates go for a fortune here, all the VW camper owners display them on their roof racks.
I'm very excited to see that plush sailor doll, I bought the same one from a jumble sale when I wasn't much bigger than ol' fur loving VB.
Glad to hear your face is on the mend! x

I love VB's haircut - what a cutie she is!

And that lady with the blue hair looks suspiciously like one I saw The Way We Wear in Canberra last month. I love her.

How marvellous is that shop - I would spend a lot of time there.
