Fabric Overload!

I've been very busy these past few days getting our stock ready for next weekends vintage fashion fair. One of my biggest tasks has been getting through the 3 garbage bags full of vintage fabric we acquired last week.

As it had been sitting under an old Queenslander for the past 16 years (plus of course, sitting around for many years before that), it was filthy to say the least!

I've just about finished washing, drying, trimming, ironing and pricing it all. Not all could be salvaged, but we certainly got some beauties and some rare old pieces too.

There are enough printed sateens to send any fabric nerd into overdrive....

I love this 50s shell pink cotton

Cute puppies on a novelty weave...please excuse the wrinkles, some of these photos were taken pre-ironing!

Included were some super-long lengths of laces, mostly in black so I haven't shown them here, but I wonder what a person might make with so much fabric?

Wouldn't this make a great curtain or cushion covers?

Well it's 1am here as I write this and I've just finished for the day. I'm off to catch up with a few of your blogs, apologies if I haven't been over to yours much lately but I should have more time after next weekend is over :)

  2. I love fabric, I could run a vintage fabric shop and be happy forever, although I would probably want to keep it all....

  13. Dearest Kitty,
I just wrote a comment but it didn't come up,grrrrrr, very annoying :(
"There are enough printed sateens to send any fabric nerd into overdrive...."haha, so get what you mean, I'm feeling delirious after just looking at that lot. My favourite is fab number for with it's bright colour & bold print. If there was enough of it, I'd make a funktastic jumpsuit out of it.
Lucky you finding so many fabulous fabrics in one go, that's only happened to me once, my heart still skips a beat thinking about it ;)
Hope all is well with you and your loved ones.
    Lot's of love,

  14. Oh - that Pucci-esque psychedelic is FABULOUS and I love the two 60s floral prints as well. But, like Vix, I just can't imagine every cutting into them. They are too lovely.
